Jason, these are great questions. It would be great if you would send these to City Council.

John Edwards with NS states that the Freight and Intermodul traffic will significantly increase on the NC3 side. Passenger Rail Task Force states the opposite. I think we are indeed owed an honest answer. IF they can not answer that, then they have no business making a recommendation.

Hope to see you this evening at the CAC meeting.

I hope someone may know the answers to these 2 quick questions:

    1) Per the question presented to the DOT, it said that ALL the freight traffic would go on the CSX lines, but at the meeting and in the DOT’s answer, it didn’t look like that was confirmed. Does anyone know if the freight traffic will increase on the NC-3/Norfolk Southern Side? My concern is those “intermodual” trains.

    2) The noise wall answer said they would need a min. of 25 feet, but where the train goes through some homes backyards, it doesn’t look like there will be enough room to do a wall using that distance. Does anyone know for sure if they will do a wall the entire way?

Thanks for putting together the community meeting a few weeks ago and volunteering so much time. I’m a Realtor in the area and have been spreading the word through my office too. I will send the petition their way.

I tried to email them and got no response, but I’ll try again. I can’t make it tonight b/c of work, but will be there on the 31st.
